Game Date

TECUMSEH HIGH SCHOOL: 33

Saturday, the Bedford girls faced off against Tecumseh High School.  The Bedford girls finished with 26 pts. (Tecumseh 33), and through a strong team effort were able to run away with the victory.

Leading the way in a new school record was Madison Foster in a time of 17:52.5.  Madison Foster won the meet today in a new school record time of 17:52.5 for 5k (breaking Kara Walchers 18:00 from 1982)

She was followed by Lauren Sancrant (4th 20:38), Alyssa Dorn (6th 20:56), Madi Heinrichs (7th 21:20), Katelyn Dec (8th 21:20), Emma Bushroe (9th 21:32), Izzy Loubser (10th 21:35).

It was a very blustery day and Indian Creek, but that didn't stop the runners from having a great morning to race.  The course was in excellent shape, and both teams had strong performances.  Madison Foster's time of 17:52 breaks the previous school record of 18:00 (Kara Walcher 1982), and marks the first time in school history a Bedford runner has eclipsed the 18:00 minute mark.  Our pack of runners knew they had to step up this morning in order to take down this formidable SEC rival.  On paper the race was pretty much equal between the two teams, and our girls positioned themselves during the race and with Tecumseh's best, and fought hard to the finish helping the team win.  This was exactly what we needed heading into the SEC Championship, and will look to continue to improve the next few weeks as the championship part of the season begins.
