The Bedford boys cross country team qualified for the State finals today, placing third in the Region 5 competition behind Ann Arbor Pioneer and Saline. There were some great performances and gutsy racing today, in both the varsity and PROM races. Senior Noah Scheffer led the Mules, finishing 12th as the only Bedford runner to receive All Region honors. Senior Colin Chevalier (28th) continued his climb back from injury and finished second for the Mules. Freshman Collin Balla had an outstanding race, finishing 30th overall. Senior Jake Reaume ran tough and finished in 34th, despite falling near the finish line. Freshman Micah Scheffer (36th) rounded out the scoring for the Mules, putting together his strongest outing of the season thus far. In the PROM race, which is the final race of the year for JV runners, juniors Austin DePue and Seth Oxer earned varsity spots for the State Finals. Junior Noah Bock and senior Steven Kraine also raced well in the PROM race, earning alternate spots on the State-bound squad.
The Kicking Mules will compete at the State Finals at Michigan International Speedway next Saturday, November 3.
