Boys Varsity XC finish 5th in Region; Ortiz to State Meet

The Bedford boys placed 5th in today's Regional competition. Though the Mules fought hard, they fell short of their goal of making it as a team to the State Finals.
Junior Alex Ortiz led the team in this race and finished 24th overall in 17:36, making him the lone Bedford runner to qualify for the State meet. Junior Collin Ball and senior Aidan Burns both just missed the cut, finishing 25th and 26th in 17:39 and 17:43, respectively. Sophomore Josh Gagne finished a gutsy performance in 32nd in 18:20, and junior Austin Spohler gutted through a hamstring injury to finish 43rd in 18:53. Juniors Preston Ulery and Ryan Prielipp finished in 49th and 54th, respectively.
Ortiz will compete in the Division 1 State Finals race on Friday, November 6.
