The Bedford women's swimming and diving team traveled to Erie Mason High School on Tuesday for a 140-43 win. The team took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in five of the twelve events and had a 1st place finisher in all twelve.
The meet started with a win in the 200 Medley Relay from the team of Kayla Binder (SO), Emily Altweis (SR), Maureen Lingle (SO), and Alyse Geiger (SR). Allison Steffin (SO) then took 1st in the 200 Freestyle. Lauren Sullivan (JR) continued with 1st in the 200 Individual Medley. The 50 Freestyle sprint was dominated by Lingle and Lauren Metter (SR). The diving crew was led by Jennifer Ortiz (SR) who took first with 145.5 points. Sullivan and Hannah Asselin (SR) took 1st and 2nd in the 100 Butterfly. Sarah Mulder (SR) and Gretchen Metter (JR) took 1st and 2nd in the 100 Freestyle. The most thrilling event of the evening was the long distance 500 Freestyle where Emily Altweis came from behind in the last lap to win by 0.52 seconds. First place in the 200 Freestyle Relay went to the team of Jessica Belknap (JR), Laura Shake (JR), Olivia Lynch (SO), and Lauren Metter. 1st place in the 100 backstroke went to Meegan Smith (JR). Lingle placed first in the 100 Breaststroke. In the final event of the evening, the team of Lingle, Lauren Metter, Asselin, and Sullivan took 1st in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Be sure to attend the last home meet at the YMCA on Thursday 10/29 against Monroe as the team looks to finish the season strong leading into the SEC and State meets.
