The Bedford Junior Varsity Girls soccer squad (2-6-0) won its second consecutive match with a 6-1 triumph over visiting Adrian Thursday afternoon at the Bedford Soccer Stadium.
The Kicking Mules raced out to a 3-0 halftime lead scoring all three goals in the final eight minutes before intermission. Freshman Taylor Lehmann scored the first goal of the match and less than two minutes later freshman Mackenzie Helpman made it 2-0 off an assist from sophomore Sydney Lent.
Lent scored her first of the season with three minutes remaining in the first half.
Bedford scored twice in the first three minutes of the second half. Sophomore Casie Deiley scored on a direct kick just a minute after halftime. Junior Rachel Schott scored less than 90 seconds later off a pass from Lent to make it 5-0. After a Maple goal by Evelyn Hernandez near the mid-point of the second half, the Kicking Mules defense only allowed three shots on goal the rest of the way. Lent completed the scoring with her second goal of the match with 60 seconds remaining in the contest.
Freshman goalkeeper Kassidy Koepfler made five saves in the match for Bedford, while Adrian's Lauryn King was credited with one save.
Strong performances up top were turned in by Ashley Manore, Kelsey Prange, Carol Oliveira and Allison Seiler. Good midfield play was contributed by Sarah Fitzgerald, Kaitlin Pete and Tayler Kibert.
Solid defensive play limiting Adrian to six shots on goal was led by Bailey Mata, Alyssa Lopez, Deiley and Morgan Parker, along with Kassie Brandon, Rebekka Daniel and Jessica Belknap.
The JV's next contest is Thursday, May 7th at Saline.
