The Mules had a tremendous 2021 State meet in Grand Rapids on Friday and Saturday. In the end, Bedford had their best finish at the state meet yet. We finished 7th and that was with only 3 individuals scoring and 2 relays. A total of 6 Team records were broken.
Micah Scheffer had our top finish of 2nd place in the 50 free, just being out touched by someone in a far lane by .03. Micah's final time of 20.73 is a new School record and the first to break 21 seconds. He also finished 4th in the 100 Fly with a new school record of 50.40. He was the lead off in the 400 Free relay and swam an amazing 45. 48 in the 100 Free setting a new record.
Thomas Zoldowski- Set a new record in the 100 Backstroke and finished 5th overall with a 51.1. His best finish was 4th in the 200 IM where he had a PR of 1:54.8.
Ian Metter had an outstanding personal best and new school record swim in the 100 breaststroke and finished 4th. His time was a quick 57.25. He also had a personal best in the 50 free and a 10 th place finish.
Ethan Tennant swam the 200 Im and finished 22nd for the Mules. He went on later to have PRs in his relay splits and was part of the 400 Free relay school record.
Austin Clise- dove on Friday evening. He finished 23rd this year as a sophomore after qualifying for states but no being able to compete as a Freshman. This was a valuable experience for him.
The 200 Medley Relay of Thomas Z, Ethan T, Micah S, and Ian M had a 2 second drop in time and just missed the school record by .2 seconds. They finished 6th.
The 200 Free Relay of Joey Travis, Nick Zoldowski, Dylan Horak, and Ethan Tennant each swam PR splits and finished a strong 21st.
Lastly- 400 Free Relay- The Mules finished super strong as the team put together a 7 second drop and broke the old school record by 2 seconds to finish in 4th place.
