Bedford boys tennis continued to accomplish things at the state tennis tournament today. It was a rainy start to the day but we were not deterred with having to begin play inside. Our first ever doubles point was earned at state today by 2 doubles team of Carter Ryan and Taylor Burgermeister, both Sophomores. Playing inside, they defeated the team from White Lake Lakeland in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 in a dramatic win in front of a large crowd to earn the first doubles point in Bedford boys tennis history while competing at states. Jaxon Nejedlik had a tough draw facing the #5 seeded player from Mattawan but battled valiantly eventually falling in 3 sets after winning the first set. 3 doubles team of Zach Wise and Mason Charlton had tough draw from perennial power Okemos and played very tough in falling 6-4, 6-2.  Coach Cukierski was named regional coach of the year yesterday as well based on the team’s fine record setting season and performance at last weeks regional tournament. This year’s team had 6 first year players in the line-up, and will graduate 8 of this years squad, so we will start building for next season immediately.
