Boys Freshman Track finish season with great results

The freshmen boys competed in their last race of the season last night at the Dundee Freshman Invitational, which was graciously hosted by Erie Mason due to the construction at the Dundee track. The Mules had some great performances and solid PRs, showing just how bright the future of Bedford track is.

Sophomore Alex Beck was the lone qualifier for the State Finals meet this year, despite a lot of great performances from the Mules.
Beck took third overall, but hit the qualifying height of 13'3", a personal best for him. Senior Nate Dotson tied for 6th in the pole vault with a personal best vault of 11'9". Sophomore Liam Agius finished 6th overall in the 110m hurdles, clocking a 15.81 in the prelims, earning him a personal best, as well. Sophomore Sawyer Ulery finished 4th overall in the 300m hurdles, but neither hurdler hit a qualifying time. The 4 x 400m relay team of sophomore Owen Pryzybylski, Ulery, junior Jack Durivage, and senior Zack Scoble took 6th in that relay.

The Bedford boys placed 6th out of the 8 teams competing in the SEC Championship meet in Dexter on Friday.
Hurdlers led the way for the Mules, with sophomore Sawyer Ulery earning All-SEC honors by placing 2nd in the 110m hurdles with a personal best time of 15.67, and sophomore Liam Agius was also All-SEC due to his 3rd place finish in the 300m hurdles with a personal best time of 42.04.
Other Mules posting personal bests included freshman Trent Smithson in the 110m hurdles (17.67); freshman Jacob Spoonmore (24.38), freshman Isaac Henman (25.65), and junior Reid Semelka (24.80) in the 200m; sophomore Owen Przybylski (52.08), freshman DeAngelo Lucarelli (57.14), and junior Reid Semelka (55.84). in the 400m; sophomore Nick Balla (2:09) and senior Josh Gagne (2:11) in the 800m; freshman Brandon McCloud (4:58), freshman Dane Hieronimus (5:01), and sophomore Jonas Enriquez (5:06) in the 1600m; sophomore Braxon Lake (11:07) and sophomore Jordan Bunce (11:16) in the 3200m; sophomore Jordan Belknap (37'10") in the shot put; and sophomore Balla in the high jump (5'6").

The Bedford Boys track team competed in the St. Francis de Sales Knight Relays in Toledo today, finishing 12th out of 15 teams.
Top performers for the Mules were sophomores Liam Agius, Caleb Agius, Sawyer Ulery, and freshman Trent Smithson, who took 3rd in the shuttle hurdle relay (1:05.78); junior Jack Durivage, sophomores Jonas Enriquez and Nick Balla, and freshman Dane Hieronimus in the 4 x 1600 relay (7th, 20:43); Jack Durivage in the 800m (3rd, 2:05.6); junior Mason Shultz in the discus (8th, 126' 2"); sophomore Jonas Enriquez in the high jump (8th, 5' 6"); and Sawyer Ulery in the 110m hurdles (8th, 16.83).

The Bedford boys track team competed in a tri-meet with Ypsilanti Lincoln and host Ann Arbor Skyline on Tuesday.
The Mules defeated Ypsilanti Lincoln by a score of 70.5 to 65.5. Bedford also defeated Ann Arbor Skyline by a score of 77 to 60.
Top performers for Bedford included senior Zack Scoble in the 100m (3rd place in a time of 11.87) and 200m (3rd in 24.10); sophomore Sawyer Ulery in the 110m hurdles (1st in 15.83) and 300m hurdles (2nd in 43.33); sophomore Liam Agius in the 300m hurdles (1st in 42.59); sophomore Caleb Agius in the 110m hurdles (3rd in 16.81); the 4 x 100m relay team of sophomore Alex Beck, Ulery, sophomore Owen Przybylski, and Scoble (1st in 46.00); the 4 x 400m relay team of junior Jack Durivage, Ulery, Przybylski, and DeAngelo Lucarelli (2nd in 3:52.29); junior Mason Shultz took first in the discus (120'5") and senior Jonny Cooper took third (107' 11"); and sophomore Jonas Enriquez took 3rd in the high jump (5' 6"). Bedford swept the pole vault, with Alex Beck placing 1st (11' 6"), senior Nate Dotson placing 2nd (11' 0"), and Zack Scoble placing third (9' 0"). In the long jump, freshman Jacob Spoonmore placed 2nd with a jump of 19' 0", and freshman Braylon Gilsdorf placed 3rd with a jump of 18' 8.75".

The Bedford boys track team placed 5th in a field of 15 schools represented at the Woodhaven Warrior Invitational today, April 22.
Medalists for the Mules included junior Jack Durivage, who placed 3rd in the 800m in a time of 2:09; senior Zack Scoble in the 100m (5th in 11.70) and 200m (5th in 4.03); sophomore Sawyer Ulery in the 300m hurdles (3rd in 44.59) and the 110m hurdles (4th in 17.00); sophomore Nick Balla in the 3200m (7th in 10:51.91). In the relays, Bedford finished 5th in the 4 x 400m (senior Nate Dotson, Ulery, freshman DeAngelo Lucarelli, and Durivage); 5th in the 4 x 800 (Balla, Durivage, sophomore Aidan Ortiz, and senior Josh Gagne); and 7th in the 4 x 100m (Scoble, freshman Braylon Gilsdorf, junior Reid Semelka, and sophomore Alex Beck).
Junior Mason Shultz placed 3rd in the discus (126' 6") and 7th (39' 4") in the shot put; sophomore Jonas Enriquez tied for 6th in the high jump (5' 6"); and in the pole vault, Alex Beck took 3rd with a vault of 12' 0".
The Mules travel to Ann Arbor Skyline on Tuesday, 4/25, to face both Skyline and Ypsilanti Lincoln.

Mules Lose: -
The Boys Track Team ran in a tri-meet at Saline High School yesterday, falling to Saline 95-41 and Ann Arbor Huron 89-48. Despite the team scores, many athletes did very well at the meet.
Senior Zack Scoble led the way for the Mules, placing 2nd in the 100m (11.8), 4th in the 200m (24.39), and 4th in the pole vault (10'6"). Sophomore Owen Przybylski placed 3rd in the 400 (53.61), and Jack Durivage finished 5th in the 800m (2:05.9). Bedford's hurdlers ran very well, with sophomore Sawyer Ulery taking 2nd in the 110m hurdles (16.46) and 3rd in the 300m hurdles (42.36). Sophomores Caleb Agius (6th in the 110m hurdles) and Liam Agius (4th in the 300 hurdles) also scored for the Mules. Freshman Trent Smithson places 6th in the 300m hurdles, as well. Rounding out the running events for Bedford was a strong performance in the 4x400m relay, with the team of Durivage, Ulery, Przybylski, and Deangelo Lucarelli placing 2nd.
In the field events, junior Mason Shultz led the throws for the Mules, placing 3rd in the shot put (40'8") and 2nd in the discus (122'3.5"). Senior Jonny Cooper also scored for Bedford, throwing a PR of 105'11" to take 6th in the discus. Sophomore Jonas Enriquez took 3rd in the high jump with a personal best of 5'8", and fellow sophomore Jake Yeager tied for 4th with a jump of 5'0". In the pole vault, Bedford fared very well, with sophomore Alex Beck taking 1st (11'6"), senior Nate Dotson taking 3rd (11'0"), and Scoble taking 4th (10'6"). The long jump saw freshmen Jacob Spoonmore (4th, 18'8") and Braylon Gilsdorf (5th, 18'3") both scoring for the Mules.
Bedford will be competing in the Woodhaven Warrior Invitational on Saturday at Woodhaven High School.
Boys Varsity Track at Whitmer Golden Relays

The Bedford boys track team placed 5th at the Whitmer Golden W Relays on April 6.
Sophomore Alex Beck (12') and seniors Nathan Dotson (11') and Zack Scoble (10') combined to win the pole vault event with a combined height of 33'. In the shuttle hurdle relay, Bedford placed 2nd with strong performances from Caleb Agius (10), Liam Agius (10), Sawyer Ulery (10), and Trent Smithson (9). Sophomores Jonas Enriquez (5'6") and Nick Balla (5'3") combined to place 3rd in the high jump.
Bedford also placed 3rd in the distance medley relay, led by Jack Durivage (11) in the 800m, Zack Scoble (12) in the 200m, Owen Przybylski (10) in the 400m, and Nick Balla (10) in the 1600m. In the individual events, Sawyer Ulery placed 3rd in the 110 hurdles (43.94), Jack Durivage placed 3rd in the 800m (2:07.48), and Owen Przybylski placed 3rd in the 400m (53.8).
The Kicking Mules will host a home meet on April 10 in an SEC contest against Ann Arbor Pioneer and Dexter.
Freshman Boys took 2nd out of 8 in Whitmer Invitational

The Bedford Boys freshman track team placed second out of eight teams in the Whitmer Invitational, just behind host Whitmer's freshman squad on Monday.
Top finishers for the freshmen included a dominating performance by Dane Hieronimus in the 1600, who finished with a time of 5:14, far ahead of the field. Trent Smithson had a strong showing, as well, winning the 110 Hurdles in a time of 17.75 seconds. The Mules took the top two spots in the long jump, with Jacob Spoonmore jumping 18'10" and teammate Braylon Gilsdorf jumping 17'11". Finishing up the day was a 1st place finish for the Mules in the 4 x 400 relay, with gutsy performances by Trent Smithson, Ibrahim Saleh, Gavin Tegtmeyer, and Deangelo Lucarelli, clocking a time of 4:07.
The Bedford varsity team will compete in the Whitmer Golden W Invitational on Thursday.
